While the main plot of Deathloop is about being locked into a loop, the game itself is a fun way to play old school FPS games. It’s a bit slow-paced, but it doesn’t have the same feeling of over-elaboration that a lot of modern games have. It’s also full of cool power-ups like the ability to shoot a moving target, dodge incoming fire, or jump high enough to avoid a bomb. It’s also a very simple game.
There’s a lot of fun to be found here. The game looks good, the game play is good, but the game is also an example of the fact that modern gaming should be a little more streamlined. It’s the very thing that makes the old school FPS games so addictive. To paraphrase: “It’s the same thing that makes shooters like Counter-Strike feel old fashioned. You can probably guess the answer to this question by looking at the screen for a second or two. I have never understood why this screen should be bigger and more detailed than the one we’re getting from zachs.
